President Salva Kiir has reinstated Amer Ateny Alier, the Speaker of the Jonglei State Legislative Assembly three months after sacking her.
In a presidential decree read on the state-owned television on Wednesday evening, SSBC Kiir reinstated the SPLM IO appointee.
She was fired by the President five months after a vote of no-confidence by the state lawmakers last year.
But the decision was condemned by SPLM-IO as a violation of the 2018 revitalized peace agreement
Amer’s reinstatement came hours after President Salva Kiir and his First Deputy, Dr. RieK Machar on Wednesday met to discuss outstanding issues related to the peace implementation.
According to the Presidential Afairs Minister,Barnaba Mariel Benjamin, some of the issues were resolved amicably and the two leaders agreed to continue with dialogue on the unresolved ones.
