The Terekeka County legislative council in Central Equatoria State has summoned the County Executive Director over delays in tabling this year’s fiscal budget.

The area strategically borders Juba County to the South, Lakes State and Jonglei State to the North, and Western Equatoria State to the West.

Joseph Elia Nyombe, the county speaker said the county is now generating a lot of revenues from its natural resources, but there is no accountability in its management.

According to him, the motive to summon the Executive Director, Emmanuel Ryomot Awan is to initiate a budget for the development of the area.

“We summoned the executive director for administrative reasons, and we as parliament we must summoned anybody in the county to know what is happening in the county,” Nyombe said.

“We summoned the executive director because we wanted to know the number of manpower that are working in the county, and also we want to know the budget of the year 2023 to 2024.”

Terekeka County Executive Director is yet to comment on the matter.

The area is home to 246,483 people as per the 2020 population projection. However, the actual figure stands at 144,373 as per the 2008 population census.

Terekeka has witnessed a growing tourists interest during weekends.

However, despite these socioeconomic activities, the community remains poverty-ridden with cattle raiding being a major source of insecurity in the area.
