Authorities of Greater Pibor Administrative Area say they have not received information about an attack allegedly carried out by Pibor youth in Nyirol County of Jonglei state.
On Tuesday, April 4, 2023, Nyirol County Commissioner accused Pibor youth of killing two soldiers and abducting four women in the area.
In a related incident, the County Information Director of Uror County said the suspected armed youth also attacked a cattle camp, killing one person and raiding 2,000 herds of cattle.
In response, Greater Pibor Deputy Chief Administrator says he did not get any information related to the incidents.
John Abulla says the Chief Administrator who is currently on a peace mission with his cabinet and forces in the Lanam area which is the escape route for the youth would have realized the incidents.
“If there is anything like that, it is supposed to be communicated officially by the government of Jonglei. The Chief Administrator of Greater Pibor is in the Lanam area,” Abulla told Eye Radio.
“I don’t think something like that can exist without being detected by the forces who are moving with the Chief Administrator,
“The Brigade Commander of Agrab Brigade 23 with his forces and the Chief Administrator with all his cabinets are now assembled in Lanam Area,
“I don’t think that they are the Greater Pibor armed youth who are now abducting or raiding cattle in Nyirol. I did not receive such information”.
