The Director-General of Traffic Police has given public transport drivers a one-month ultimatum to change the exit door from left to the right side of the vehicles on safety grounds.

Major General Kon John Akot also ordered the public bus drivers to relocate the steering wheel from the right-hand side of their vehicles to the left side.

“As for the public transport buses owner, I will give you a period of one month to turn the steering wheel from the right direction to the left direction and turn the buses door from left to right,” he told the media on Friday.

General Kon stated that drivers will be arrested and fined for failure to implement the directive.

“We will give you a month from now to reconcile your situation. After this deadline expires, any person who does not comply with these instructions and does not have approval is considered to be in violation of the order. We will arrest and fine them.”

The traffic official further directed the commercial bus drivers to remove tinted glasses, in accordance with traffic regulations.
